WEST DORSET DISTRICT COUNCIL
CERNE VALLEY WARD

On Thursday 7th May 2015 the parish of Stratton became part of the Cene Valley ward of West Dorset District Council. In the District Council election that took place that day, Tim Yarker (left in the photo above) and Fred Horsington (right) were elected to serve as our District Councillors. Both represent the Conservative Party. They are seen here on Stratton Village Green either side of Oliver Letwin, who was elected as the Member of Parliament for West Dorset in the Parliamentary election held on the same day. Stratton is part of the West Dorset constituency.

Tim Yarker lives in Charminster. He moved there over thirty years ago and his house next to the church has been home ever since. After working for many years as a pilot at Portland Naval Base, and more recently in business, he now intends dedicating himself full-time to serving the community that he knows and loves so well. He hopes that his long track-record of getting things done will enable him to be an effective voice for every part of the Cerne Valley, and make a positive difference to everyone who lives in the ward. He was also elected as a Charminster Parish Councillor on 7th May 2015.

Fred Horsington is a farmer and has lived in the Cerne Valley since 1957. He has been married to his wife, Iris, for over forty-five years and has four children. Two of his sons farm with him in partnership at Pound Farm. He has for the last three and a half years been involved in producing the Neighbourhood Plan for The Cerne Valley. He is a Parish Councillor for the Cerne Valley representing Nether Cerne. He is presently Chairman of the West Dorset Conservatives.
